Babymoon at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

estancia la jolla

When Josh and I started planning our baby moon, we knew we wanted to relax and indulge before Cam made his big debut. So naturally, treating ourselves to luxury hotels was at the top of our list. I mean, is there anything better than checking into a spacious suite, putting on a fluffy robe and just relaxing all day? So when we arrived at the stunning Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, we knew we were in for a treat. And you best believe that we got into relaxation mode as soon as we checked in.

This gorgeous La Jolla hotel exceeded all of our expectations and we were truly sad to leave. With that said, I’m so excited to share our wonderful stay at the beautiful Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa and how we treated ourselves to a weekend of relaxation and luxury.

Hotel Grounds

Upon arriving at the Estancia La Jolla, Josh and I couldn’t stop talking about how gorgeous it was. To me, first impressions are everything and the Estancia was even better in person. Once we arrived, we felt as if we left all of our worries behind and stepped into a beautiful fairytale.

The hotel grounds were just beautiful. As a California native, I naturally have a soft spot for Spanish architecture. And the Estancia was my architectural dream come true. Everywhere we turned, we found corners more beautiful than the last.

The landscaping here is just to die for. I don’t think I can emphasize that enough. Gardens are filled with gorgeous flowers. Hotel rooms are surrounded by colorful and fragrant citrus trees. And walkways are dotted with cute and colorful succulents, cacti and palm trees. Like I said, it’s a landscape dream!

I truly loved how the Estancia really captured the essence of California chic – coastal, laid back luxury, so welcoming, cozy and relaxing all at the same time. We truly felt at home and did not want to leave.

Hotel Room

There is nothing like checking into your hotel room at a luxury hotel. It’s kind of like Christmas morning, haha, at least to me anyways. Since we arrived at 7:30 in the evening, we were ready to just unwind, change into our fluffy robes and just relax in our room. And wow, our room was beautiful and just perfect for a weekend of utter relaxation.

We were so happy with it, we would have been just as happy staying in our room, napping, and ordering room service all day. It was just that cozy and was our little home away from home.

And our room was simply amazing. It was like a little cottage, complete with a separate living room, bedroom suite and spacious spa-like bathroom.

The living room was perfect for just lounging and hanging out with one another. We enjoyed our in-suite amenity of chocolate covered strawberries and Martenelli’s Apple Cider for the prego (& complimentary bottle of red for the hubs). It was seriously the perfect treat for this prego to just relax and indulge in some tasty treats while binge watching Law & Order (haha, don’t judge me).

Our bedroom was so dreamy and we both got amazing sleep both nights. One of the things we care most about during our hotel stays is the comfort and quality of both mattress and pillows. And the quality did not disappoint. The bed and pillows were so plush and comfy that it was hard to pry ourselves out of bed. However, since the weather was somewhat stormy, it gave us the perfect excuse to just lay in bed and do nothing but relax. Which was absolutely perfect for these parents to be!

The Food

Ok, let’s talk food. One of my favorite things to talk about. I’m one of those travelers who eyes the hotel’s restaurant menus and plans what I am going to order beforehand. Haha it’s weird but it’s true. I just love food!!

Each morning, we started off with a tasty breakfast at Adobe El Restaurante. The first morning I got the Egg White Frittata with rye toast and Josh got the Chilaquiles (in case you don’t know what this dish is, it’s basically breakfast nachos – so good!) The second morning, I ordered the Plated Continental, complete with fresh fruit, yogurt, and a few pastries (so good!) and Josh got the Huevos Rancheros. Everything we ordered was so good and it seriously did not disappoint!

Estancia also has the beautiful, Mustangs & Burrosfor lunch and dinner, Trinitas Cellars Wine Bar for drinks, and Blend for quick snacks and coffee to go.

The Pool

Oh my goodness, we absolutely loved the pool at the Estancia. Even though it was 60 and overcast, we knew we were going to enjoy some time at the pool no matter what! So despite the crazy weather, we enjoyed lazy afternoons in the heated pool and just relaxed. Josh and I already have plans to return during the warmer months with baby Cam because it’s the ultimate place for relaxation. It’s complete with comfy lounge chairs and several cabanas or daybeds that are available to rent out (the pricing is very reasonable – especially for a luxury resort!) There is also a hot tub, fire pits for nighttime hangs, and a restaurant and bar that is open during prime seasons.

The Location

Growing up in Southern California, La Jolla has always been a desirable destination for a luxurious weekend getaway. For those of you who aren’t all too familiar with La Jolla, this beautiful seaside town is located roughly 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego. Growing up, we always considered La Jolla to be the Beverly Hills of San Diego. It’s gorgeous, affluent, and always worth the splurge. The coastline here is beautiful and has some of the best beaches in San Diego County.

The best part about the Estancia La Jolla? The location a few minutes off the 5 freeway and the complimentary shuttle will take you to any point of interest within 5 miles of the Estancia!

Overall Experience

Overall, the Estancia La Jolla was incredible. We loved everything from our room, to the hotel grounds, to the fantastic customer service and amazing food. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

The Estancia exceeded all our expectations and we had a fabulous baby moon! I highly suggest Estancia La Jolla if you are looking for a relaxing San Diego getaway, baby moon, or even for your wedding (the grounds are so gorgeous – I cannot express that enough!)

It was the perfect pick to spend a few days, disconnected from the real world and just spend some quality time with one another. Josh and I can’t wait to return once little Cam is born and continue making family memories at this gorgeous hotel!

Hi Chloe! What a beautiful post. I like the idea of a babymoon; you looked so relaxed and in love! I’ll have to check out this hotel on my next trip to San Diego.

  • This place looks so cute, it’s always lovely to find a place where you can get away from everything, sounds like it was very relaxing! #FlyAwayFiles

  • I have so many things I want to say that I don’t know where to start, they all seem equally important:
    a) Your dresses! They’re gorgeous, and you look so happy and relaxed.
    b) I had to check how far away I am from Estancia, because all of your pictures make it look really lovely. The gardens, the pool areas and they have fire pits. Sorry, I know I’m sounding a bit overexcited. It’s just so pretty. Thanks for the post and all the great photos! And best of luck with baby Cam. #flyawayfriday

Wow you were truly treated like royalty here and that should be the case on a babymoon! The food does look lovely and I like how you had sparkling cider with your strawberries.
